About Halcott Magazine

We started Halcott Magazine because we were tired of product reviews that felt like they were written by someone who never touched the product.

How We Got Here

Halcott Magazine grew out of a simple frustration: too many review sites rank products based on spec sheets and press releases. Nobody was actually using these things in their daily lives and reporting back honestly.

We started as a small group of friends and colleagues who kept texting each other the same question: “Which one should I actually buy?” The standing desk for a home office. The air fryer that doesn’t just collect dust. The laptop that lasts more than two years. We were already doing the research for each other — so we decided to do it for everyone.

Today, Halcott Magazine covers over 30 product categories with a team of five specialist editors. Every product on this site has been evaluated by someone who genuinely understands the category — not a generalist rewriting manufacturer copy, but an actual expert with years of hands-on experience in their field.

We don’t accept free products in exchange for reviews. We don’t let affiliate relationships influence our rankings. And we never will.

What We Believe

Real expertise, not algorithms

Every review is written by a specialist who lives and breathes their category. Our technology editor has 15 years in IT. Our kitchen editor actually cooks dinner every night. That experience shows up in every recommendation.

Honest assessments, always

We list the cons alongside the pros because you deserve the full picture. If a product isn’t worth your money, we’ll say so — even if it’s popular or from a brand we like.

Independence first

We earn revenue through affiliate links, which means we get a small commission when you buy something through our site. This never influences what we recommend. Our editorial team evaluates every product independently of our business team.

Clarity over cleverness

We write for real people making real purchasing decisions. No jargon for jargon’s sake, no filler paragraphs, no SEO-stuffed fluff. Just clear, useful information that helps you decide.

Meet the Team

Each member of our editorial team specializes in the categories they know best. Here’s who’s behind the reviews.

D

Daniel Cole

Technology Editor

Daniel spent 15 years as an IT consultant before joining Halcott Magazine. He’s deployed thousands of devices across enterprise environments, which gives him a uniquely practical perspective on consumer tech. He doesn’t care about spec sheet wars — he cares about whether the thing actually works well six months after you buy it.

Covers: Laptops, 4K Monitors, Mechanical Keyboards, Gaming Mice, Wireless Earbuds, Over-Ear Headphones, Smartwatches, Tablets, Dash Cams, Mesh Wi-Fi Routers

R

Rachel Morse

Home & Kitchen Editor

Rachel is the person her entire extended family calls before buying anything for their kitchen or home. She’s tested hundreds of appliances over the years — not in a lab, but in her actual kitchen, feeding her actual family.

Covers: Air Fryers, Blenders, Coffee Makers, Espresso Machines, Robot Vacuums, Cordless Stick Vacuums, Air Purifiers

M

Marcus Webb

Outdoor & Active Editor

Marcus tests gear the way it’s meant to be used — outside, in motion, and often in weather that would void most warranties. A former bike shop mechanic and weekend trail runner, he brings a hands-on, no-nonsense approach to every review.

Covers: Electric Bikes, Electric Scooters, Outdoor Grills, Portable Power Stations, Running Shoes

S

Sarah Lin

Family & Home Editor

Sarah is a parent of three who approaches product reviews with the skepticism of someone who’s been burned by too many “top-rated” products that fell apart in a month. She tests products the way families actually use them.

Covers: Baby Monitors, Home Security Cameras, Mattresses

J

James Ashworth

Office & Productivity Editor

James has been working remotely since 2012 and has spent a frankly unreasonable amount of time and money optimizing his home office. He’s sat in over 50 office chairs, stood at over 30 standing desks, and has opinions about monitor arms.

Covers: Standing Desks, Office Chairs, Projectors
